COMMERCIAL ROOF CLEANING IN LONDON

We clean all types of commercial roofs across London

Roof cleaner in London with years of experience

When was the last time the roof was cleaned on your commercial property? Commercial roof cleaning is a necessary part of keeping your business's roof in good condition. A clean roof can protect the integrity of the building, reduce costs associated with repair and replacement, and make sure that your business looks its best. With regular maintenance and professional cleaning services, you can ensure that the roof on your commercial property stays in peak condition.

In the UK, organic growth such as moss, algae, lichen and fungi are a frequent issue in commercial roofing. These organisms can take advantage of damp, shaded environments to drastically damage your roof while also making it appear dull and detracting from its natural colour. This can prove costly if left unchecked.

If you want to give your commercial property an attractive, well-maintained appearance, then a professional roof clean is an easy and effective way to do this. Not only will it help your commercial property make an excellent first impression, but it can also help prevent issues such as regular gutter blockages and moss falling around the perimeter which can pose slip hazards to people walking by.

At London Roof Cleaning, we use the latest equipment and techniques to clean all types of commercial roofs throughout London. Our team are highly trained, fully insured and provide roof cleaning services of the highest standard. We are flexible and can work around your business to clean at a time that suits you, ensuring that your employees and customers are safe with minimal disruption as possible.

London Roof Cleaning offers specialised services for all types of commercial and industrial roof cleaning needs. Our experienced cleaners can effectively tackle any project, from schools to office blocks, warehouses, churches, shops, hotels and residential homes - all throughout London. When it comes to choosing a professional roof cleaning company for your commercial or industrial roof cleaning task, you can count on us!

Step 1
Your roof will be assessed for suitability. Some roofs are too far in to their life and cleaning will potentially just exacerbate existing issues and do little to extend the life of the roof. If you get the green light, we're good to go and will schedule your appointment attend to improve the look and life of your roof.
Step 2
On the day we use a DOFF pressure steam machine. This is the only machine of it's kind approved by English Heritage for it's highly effective, low impact cleaning ability. The machine issues a low flow, low pressure (low abrasion) jet of super heated steam (150°c) to clear and clean your roof of biomatter - moss, algae & lichen, as well as general dirt.
Step 3
After cleaning we apply a high strength biocide to act as a re-growth inhibitor for biomatter (moss, algae & lichen) to extend the life of the clean - this means depending on the surrounding environment the clean won't need to be redone for anything up to four years.
Step 4
Your gutters are completely cleared of any debris that will have fallen from the roof as part of the clean - at this stage we can also clean your drive, patio, stonework for a lower cost than standard (since we're already in attendance) to really improve the look and value of your home or business.

Why do commercial roofs need cleaning?

The damp weather in the UK can make a roof an ideal habitat for moss and algae. Not only is this an eyesore, but it can also cause blockages in gutters and downpipes. Even worse, the extra wet weight of moss may burden the roof structure and tiles could even shatter during winter due to the freeze-thaw cycle, leading to accelerated degradation and diminished visual appeal - all of which will cost you dearly in terms of repair bills. Fortunately, there are measures you can take to protect your roof from moss and algae. Regular maintenance is key, as it will help prevent these organisms from taking root in the first place.

We always prioritise safety when conducting our work. We are flexible and can schedule cleaning around your business to ensure only minimum disruption is caused to your employees and customers.

Got a question?

Why do roofs need to be cleaned?

It’s not uncommon to spot homes with roofs covered in an unsightly layer of moss and algae. In addition to appearing unpleasant to the eye, heavy growth on a roof can cause serious damage over time. The moisture drawn in by the moss can lead to frost expansion and cracking in the pointing and lifting of tiles. In some cases, the moss has even started to eat away at the surface of tiles. It's clear that this issue should not be taken lightly.

If you want to avoid any damage and keep your roof looking as good as new, it's important to act quickly to remove the moss and algae. Taking preventative steps now can help to save you from more costly repairs in the future.

There are a number of treatments and methods available for moss removal, so it's important to choose the right one for your needs. Taking advantage of expert advice can ensure that you make an informed decision about which treatment is best for your roof. By taking action now, you can protect your home and keep your roof looking great.

Why is moss bad for my roof?

Moss can be a detriment to any roof's structural stability. Its presence may not be attractive, but it also has the potential to cause serious damage from water absorption. The moss absorbs moisture from the environment and its roots latch onto roofs, leading to degradation. Additionally, this dampness can give way to bacteria and mould growth which can result in holes and leaks in the roof, leading to water damage of the timbers.  This can be incredibly damaging to a home if left untreated.  Therefore, it is important to act quickly to prevent serious damage. Clogged drains and guttering can also become an issue as moss detaches and falls into the gutters, resulting in a buildup of debris that causes drips and puts extra strain on the system.

How will you access my roof?

Working in the safest way possible is always our priority. Our team is experienced with a variety of working at height methods including ladders, harnesses, and scaffolding to clean roofs safely. Usually, we employ the traditional ladder method to access roofs; however this may depend on the height and accessibility of the property. Our technicians assess each property before deciding on the best means to secure access.

What is moss, algae and lichen?

- Mosses are small clumps of vegetation that lack flowers and tend to thrive in low-light or moist locations.
- Gloeocapsa magma is a bacterium that produces the unsightly black stains commonly seen on roofs. This organism survives by absorbing water and emitting oxygen, and the buildup of algae can prevent sunlight from evaporating it away. As such, this type of algae is one of the most frequent culprits behind roof discolouration.
- Lichen on roofs is a blend of algae and fungus.
